BRIGHT and early every Sunday, there\u2019s an hour of anti-pollution power generated somewhere around Ballarat.<\/p>\n
For now 21 weeks, the Sunday Sweep has united an average of 25 people to clear a highly littered area of as much rubbish as possible within 60 minutes. The group has collected almost 1000 bags.<\/p>\n
Co-Founder, Zac Budge started the positive community activity \u201cpurely out of annoyance.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s rubbish everywhere. It\u2019s not just in the bushes, it\u2019s along our streets,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s something that has always frustrated me, but instead of being frustrated about it, I thought, why not do something about it?\u201d<\/p>\n
As the Manager of Spartans Gym, Mr Budge initially grew the project with the help of his fitness network.<\/p>\n
\u201cOriginally, it was just Matt Birch and myself, then we posted about it the next week and we had nine people join us from the gym. It snowballed from there,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The pair want to raise awareness of the huge amount of litter around their city and beyond.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe encourage people to come to the sweep, if they want to come to the sweep, and follow us on Instagram and Facebook where we post the locations and times,\u201d Mr Budge said.<\/p>\n
