The idea was to do a re-brand and modernise not only the football jumpers but to also correct the issue of the jumpers and netball uniforms not being identical in colour.<\/p>\nON those dark cold winter days that Ballarat excels at so well, it was hard to tell the Southern Mounties players when competing against the Devils and the Roosters.<\/p>\n
There was a big clash with Mt Clear\u2019s jumpers with those two teams, Chris Martin, Mt Clear Junior Football Netball Club President said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey both wear black and white and although we are blue and white, from a distance it was hard to tell the teams apart,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Before the season started the Club made the decision to rectify the problem.<\/p>\n
It undertook a program to give the Southern Mounties teams new colours, brand and logo.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe blue and the teal in both kits never matched up, they were different shades,\u201d Mr Martin said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe took a two-pronged attack we wanted an updated uniform that was consistent through the club but also we needed to remove the clash with the other two teams.\u201d<\/p>\n
The particular blue to represent as the Mt Clear colour was chosen by Peter Humphreys co-editor of the club\u2019s newsletter and website.<\/p>\n
The Club\u2019s logo still has the stars, which signifies the southern cross, and the mountain ranges and the netball kit is now the same colours as the footy jumpers.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat Pete did is kept our history and modernised the look and changed the colours,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
While the look of the Club was being updated and standardised the grounds and facilities were also having a face lift<\/p>\n
Funding from State government has paid for drainage and irrigation on the main ground.<\/p>\n
The next stage of spending will be for new lights on the back oval which will give the players access to two well-lit playing fields.<\/p>\n
The clubrooms, built and opened a couple of years ago, are being refurbished with a new canteen and better change facilities.<\/p>\n
The funding for the changes which will be utilised for the netballers was approved before the past State election but is has taken a while with council to get it off the ground.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
