{"id":64227,"date":"2019-10-12T05:56:22","date_gmt":"2019-10-11T19:56:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=64227"},"modified":"2019-10-09T14:23:33","modified_gmt":"2019-10-09T04:23:33","slug":"passion-and-charity-merge-for-outback-adventure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/news\/passion-and-charity-merge-for-outback-adventure\/","title":{"rendered":"Passion and charity merge for outback adventure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MOUNT Helen\u2019s Pam and Tony Stoffels are passionate about four-wheel driving.<\/p>\n<p>Entered into the River to the Rock 4WD Adventure in 2020, the duo get to enjoy their hobby, all while financially supporting Variety, the children\u2019s charity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe already do a lot of four-wheel driving and have a car that\u2019s set up for it,\u201d Mr Stoffels said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe kids are our future, we love kids and we wanted to help them out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Setting off from Mildura next May, the couple will camp most nights and finish two weeks later at Uluru, travelling via Birdsville.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe spend three days crossing the Simpson Desert. It\u2019s quite a challenge, and I\u2019d recommend anybody to go there for the isolation,\u201d Mr Stoffels said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s 1100 sand dunes to cross, so it\u2019s a challenge for the machinery and the people. It\u2019s exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Currently 22 cars are registered for the adventure, and teams will travel through poorer outback areas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will be good to see and help those communities where we can,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Already working on generating a minimum of $3000 before they hit the starting line, the Stoffels are not only pleased to fundraise for Variety, but to get back out in the country they adore.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe love Australia and we\u2019ve seen a lot of it.
