WHEN an email from Facebook landed in their inbox Rod and Bec McErvale thought it was a hoax.<\/p>\n
It said their business Leroy Mac Designs had been chosen by Facebook to feature in its 2019 Facebook Christmas Gift Guide.<\/p>\n
Mr McErvale said when they checked and realised it was in fact legitimate, they were thrilled at being chosen as one of 30 regional businesses for the guide.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were one of ten of the businesses who were invited to promote ourselves in an online video,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The couple produce a range of machine-washable woollen blankets, beanies and scarves.<\/p>\n
As fourth generation Merino wool growers in Lexton they know and understand the benefits of wool.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are very proud that we are one of only a few 100 per cent Australian owned businesses that produce quality wool products wool from our own sheep on our farm in Victoria,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Leroy Mac Designs was recognised for its achievements in 2018 when it was awarded the Federation Business School Creative Industries Business Award from Commerce Ballarat.<\/p>\n
Mr McErvale said they are not sure why they were chosen by Facebook as the offer came out of the blue.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe think they were looking at Facebook pages that were getting good hits, a lot of interaction and who have got a story that is a bit unique,\u201d he said. \u201cWe certainly fit that bill as we are an online business with our website and Facebook our primary media and promotional outlets.\u201d<\/p>\n
As part of the gift guide campaign Ms McErvale is attending a Facebook workshop in Canberra along with the other 29 business.<\/p>\n
The group will have the opportunity to showcase their products in Parliament House.<\/p>\n
