{"id":67003,"date":"2020-02-17T05:53:00","date_gmt":"2020-02-16T18:53:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=67003"},"modified":"2020-02-13T17:53:01","modified_gmt":"2020-02-13T06:53:01","slug":"dont-be-late-for-tea-at-trades-hall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/news\/dont-be-late-for-tea-at-trades-hall\/","title":{"rendered":"Don\u2019t be late for tea at Trades Hall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A CONTEMPORARY one act play inspired by Lewis Carroll\u2019s <em>Alice\u2019s Adventures in Wonderland<\/em> is coming to Trades Hall for three shows over Saturday, 22 and Sunday, 23 February.<\/p>\n<p><em>Wondered<\/em> follows Hatter\u2019s point of view, as he plans to have one last extravagant tea party, but Alice is running late and it\u2019s been years since her last visit to Wonderland.<\/p>\n<p>Writer, Elodie Boal said Hatter\u2019s gathering is set to be madder than any other before and might answer some questions the audience has always \u2018wondered.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Wondered<\/em> is an engaging and cerebral piece of theatre that stimulates the darkest parts of the adult imagination,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p><em>The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether <\/em>by Edgar Allan Poe was also an inspirational piece for Boal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA cultural combination of literatures best, <em>Wondered<\/em> is a reimagined dark fairy tale that tells the untold story of Alice\u2019s final journey to Wonderland,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnlike the original, this work focuses entirely on the neurological impairments and pure insanity that makes up the fictional character, the Mad Hatter.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_67005\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-67005\" style=\"width: 228px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-67005\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2020\/02\/Wondered3-for-web-228x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"228\" height=\"300\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-67005\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Iconic: Darron Farquhar is Hatter in Wondered. He said it may be unexpected, but the play explores loneliness, mental deterioration and resulting social issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been a real challenge to play the role of Hatter,\u201d he said. \u201cThere is a gamut of emotions that have been tapped into with the role&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHatter\u2019s childlike innocence, the darker sides that emerge unexpectedly, and why is hatter so mad?\u00a0 Ah, that would be giving the story away.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t be late for this very important date.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Wondered<\/em> will begin its run at 2pm on Saturday, 22 February with another performance at 7pm. All proceeds from Sunday, 23 February\u2019s 2pm performance will be directed to mental health support for victims of the bushfire crisis.<\/p>\n<p>Presented by Dizzy Productions, the play has a running time of 45 minutes and a cast of five. Tickets are available through Majestix via <strong>5333 5888<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Pamphlets for Beyond Blue will be accessible if audience members are impacted by the themes.
