THE first round of the Australian Motor Racing Series\u2019 APRA\/MRF State Championship was recently won by young competitor, Josh Gay.<\/p>\n
Arriving at Winton Motor Raceway with new controlled tyres, an electric water pump, power steering and brakes, and suspension alterations to his Nissan N14 Pulsar, the Ballarat Light Car Club racer had five ten lap races over the weekend.<\/p>\n
Receiving one first and four second places, Gay was pleased with the part changes, achieving a personal best lap time of one minute, 42 seconds, beating his 2019 self by just over one second.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt felt amazing having my first win in the series. I\u2019m the youngest driver, so it was a great achievement to win the whole round,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cEven though I\u2019m young, I\u2019ve definitely got the ability and skills to beat some of the more experienced and older guys. Some of them have five or six years in the category so it\u2019s great to keep up, and beat them.\u201d<\/p>\n
Gay will race at Phillip Island in May.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a fast and open track, one of the most dangerous tracks in Australia. You need to be courageous. I\u2019ll go as hard as I can to come home with another good result,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
