{"id":67592,"date":"2020-03-13T05:56:10","date_gmt":"2020-03-12T18:56:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=67592"},"modified":"2020-03-13T12:30:30","modified_gmt":"2020-03-13T01:30:30","slug":"two-idiots-and-a-microphone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/news\/two-idiots-and-a-microphone\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Two idiots and a microphone&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THIS Friday, 13 March, Voice FM\u2019s weekly program <em>The Black Sheep <\/em>celebrates thirty years on air.<\/p>\n<p>From 6pm to 8pm, the community radio show champions local, global, eclectic, old and new alternative music, featuring comedic talk breaks with presenters, Alan Penhall and Mark Gilroy.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Penhall launched the show in 1990 with Phill Crone, telling honest stories, sharing tunes and laughter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe play independent, punk, heavy rock&#8230; A whole mix and it\u2019s always been that way,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe try to find the humour in everything. We take the mickey out of Ballarat and Ballarodents, poking a stick at what\u2019s funny or not quite right. Sophisticated comedy, stupidity&#8230; cheap and obscure laughs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPhill and I had 25 years of that together like a marriage. Now I present the show with my second partner,\u201d Mr Penhall laughed.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Gilroy jumped into the seat opposite his co-presenter four years ago.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve got a fair bit in common, but we also like different music,\u201d he said. \u201cI bring in music that I think Alan might like and he brings in music, so we broaden our tastes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe both have jobs that can be stressful, so at 6pm on a Friday, I get work out of my head and de-stress. I find the show therapeutic, and hopefully that\u2019s how people feel at home.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re two idiots and a microphone&#8230; but knowing the audience discovers pieces of music because of us, that\u2019s satisfying.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>The Black Sheep<\/em>\u2019s highlights include hosting the Doug Anthony All Stars.
