{"id":67714,"date":"2020-03-23T05:55:05","date_gmt":"2020-03-22T18:55:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=67714"},"modified":"2020-03-16T16:32:39","modified_gmt":"2020-03-16T05:32:39","slug":"thriving-with-kindness-optimism-and-fun","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/news\/thriving-with-kindness-optimism-and-fun\/","title":{"rendered":"Thriving with kindness, optimism and fun"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SYDNEY\u2019S Lucy Bloom is on board Commerce Ballarat\u2019s 2020 Business Day Out to inspire and challenge the perspectives of businesspeople, with ideas to elevate their trade and services.<\/p>\n<p>Having a background in advertising, start-ups and running aid charities, keynote speaker Ms Bloom is ready to encourage people to do business differently, propelling their workplaces with more fun and care.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou don\u2019t hear or read about it much, but there are four really key themes and qualities I see in the really successful people I\u2019ve worked with in my 27-year career; courage, kindness, optimism and fun,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve worked in some unusual places like Ethiopia and Cambodia, with clients who have done breathtaking things, and those four values are all things they implement in their personal lives and businesses, and I see it feeding into their bottom line.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bringing her expertise to a regional audience, Ms Bloom also understands all businesses need to be mindful of their \u201cgeography,\u201d but access is changing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re all marketing in a very digital way and a lot of service and product-based businesses can market nationally and globally, so there\u2019s a lot less regional challenge than there used to be,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut there\u2019s also that gorgeous benefit of being a regional business. There\u2019s enormous appeal from markets in metropolitan areas who adore buying and patronising businesses in regional areas. The bushfires really pushed that along beautifully.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Deputy chair of the Coogee Chamber of Commerce, Ms Bloom champions local businesses supporting each other and collaborating. She said all traders have so much to learn from one another.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChambers are all in it together and that\u2019s what I love. There\u2019s not so much competition, as much as comradery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can bring some learning from the seaside to regional Australia. Chambers are creative, there\u2019s a lot of sharing of solutions, and I think there\u2019ll be some great thinking right now about finding the opportunity in crisis,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the whole business ecosystem is thriving, everyone is thriving.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ms Bloom will bring copies of her memoir, <em>Get the Girls Out<\/em>, to Business Day Out, and the second edition of her childbirth book for men, <em>Cheers to Childbirth<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Regional Victorian businesses are invited to the event at the Mercure Ballarat Hotel and Convention Centre on Wednesday, 27 May.<\/p>\n<p>Dave Dixon will also present about \u2018leaving a legacy,\u2019 and Shane McCurry is set to look at \u2018The Big Five\u2019 for business.
