{"id":67723,"date":"2020-03-24T05:55:14","date_gmt":"2020-03-23T18:55:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=67723"},"modified":"2020-03-16T21:53:24","modified_gmt":"2020-03-16T10:53:24","slug":"like-minds-linked-by-japanese-engineering","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/news\/like-minds-linked-by-japanese-engineering\/","title":{"rendered":"Like minds linked by Japanese engineering"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BALLARAT is home to Japanese domestic market cars, four-wheel-drives and bikes of all vintages, used for all purposes and owned by young and old.<\/p>\n<p>Three years ago, the Ballarat JDM Club was established for people to share, appreciate and celebrate these diverse vehicles in a social space.<\/p>\n<p>Meeting a few times each month with their wheels, president Jarred McNamara said anyone is invited to bring anything from Hondas to Subarus, and the group especially loves to see imports.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019d like to see more Mitsubishis, but we have a good mix,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Club officer, Connor Brown said just under 150 active members make a family-friendly community, with children and pets welcome.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a place for people who aren\u2019t necessarily into traditional sports to meet people with like minds, make new friends and talk about your car, away from anti-social hooning,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Currently sponsored by Spanners and Sparks Automotive, Mr Brown hopes more businesses will reach out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019d like to have a database we can use with locksmiths, panel beaters, painters, that could maybe offer discounts and we can promote them as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Social media manager, Tyarna Brookes said the club usually meets at the Amart carpark after hours, but the group\u2019s open to discovering new, all-weather meeting places.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re looking for somewhere a bit more sheltered, but we\u2019d like to do it without impeding on businesses,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe encourage more women to come along too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Visit <a href=\"http:\/\/facebook.com\/groups\/859524087730208\"><strong>facebook.com\/groups\/859524087730208<\/strong><\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/instagram.com\/ballaratjdmclub\"><strong>instagram.com\/ballaratjdmclub<\/strong><\/a> to keep up to date with upcoming club meets.
