ORGANISERS of the upcoming ArtWalk in Soldiers Hill have called off the event due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n
However, as walking with appropriate social distancing measures is still encouraged, some of the artists and creatives in Soldiers Hill will still have their works on show.<\/p>\n
Run by the Soldiers Hill Artist Collective, the ArtWalk was to primarily involve the display of works in the front windows of area businesses. There\u2019s no need to enter the business, just enjoy the creative endeavour from the outside.<\/p>\n
Small yellow squares placed on the pavement outside the shop fronts guide walkers to the works of painters, printmakers, sculptors, fibre artists, furniture makers, photographers as well as those who create in mixed media.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur aim is to engage with the broader Ballarat community through creative art and craft,\u201d said SHAC president Dr Rosey King before the cancellation. \u201cThere is a new energy, inspiration and challenge to the works of art and this has been achieved through successful collaboration with other artistic mediums.\u201d<\/p>\n
This ArtWalk event was to also compliment a recent literary focused exhibit held by the Collective.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhilst the ArtWalk reflects the individual artist\u2019s work, during the year SHAC has enjoyed the challenge of creating visual art alongside the written word in a collaboration with writing group Words Out Loud,\u201d Dr King said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
