{"id":68085,"date":"2020-04-14T04:54:44","date_gmt":"2020-04-13T17:54:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=68085"},"modified":"2020-04-08T12:53:22","modified_gmt":"2020-04-08T01:53:22","slug":"isolated-but-seen-and-united-online","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/news\/isolated-but-seen-and-united-online\/","title":{"rendered":"Isolated, but seen and united online"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AN initiative from the Ballarat International Foto Biennale team is encouraging Australians, and the world, to present their unique self-isolation experience via Instagram.<\/p>\n<p>Mass Isolation Australia, using the hashtag <strong>#massisolationAUS<\/strong> and the <strong>@massisolationAUS<\/strong> account, will showcase the public\u2019s photos, creating a digital visual archive of their time during the coronavirus crisis.<\/p>\n<p>BIFB\u2019s artistic director, Fiona Sweet said events of 2020 are \u201chugely significant,\u201d so moments of life within this period should be shared.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe explosion in smart phone technology has opened up the world of photography to more people than ever before, and we wanted to capture the COVID-19 event in a meaningful way,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_68087\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-68087\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-68087\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2020\/04\/The-Plague-1-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-68087\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Plague 1. Photo: PONCH HAWKES<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI know that photographic artists will find new ways to interpret the world right now, but I encourage anyone to submit their ideas and photographs. It\u2019s an opportunity to find lightness, to share experiences and build our faith in humanity\u2019s ability to survive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Having been in strict self-isolation, recently returning from the United States, Ms Sweet understands how lonely it can be when you\u2019re only at home.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has been the digital world that has allowed me to stay connected,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Mass Isolation Australia is free and open to anyone, inspired by the British Mass Observation project which launched in 1937. The initiative is in partnership with FORMAT International Photography Festival, and Gallery of Photography Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>People can tag their photos or send them to the <strong>@massisolationAUS <\/strong>account.
