WHILE the annual PowerFM Easter Egg hunt may have been cancelled due to social distancing and preventive isolation, the team at the radio station are still working their little cotton tails off to bring autumn cheer to the community.<\/p>\n
Replacing this year\u2019s search for the sweet stuff is a campaign to bring the eggs directly to kids and families across the region.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019d organised the stock for the Easter egg hunt and unfortunately because of the current conditions we had to call that off, but we still wanted to do something for the community,\u201d said John Fitzgibbon, PowerFM general manager.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo we\u2019ve been asking for people to send us their street addresses and we\u2019re going to do some random drops and bring some cheer around the city.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe bought the eggs with the support of our major partner, Ryan\u2019s IGA, and now they\u2019ve all been nicely boxed up we\u2019ll start delivering in the next few days.\u201d<\/p>\n
From Tuesday, the team at PowerFM were joined by the Easter Bunny as they headed out across Ballarat and the region delivering the eggs.<\/p>\n
With 12,000 eggs to get out and over 2000 responses to the campaign the logistical challenge was great, and sadly not everyone who put in was going to get a visit.<\/p>\n
But that doesn\u2019t mean you can\u2019t share the joy though, with an opportunity to pay it forward if the Easter Bunny does drop by your house.<\/p>\n
\u201cObviously we\u2019re not going to be able to deliver to 2000 places but we\u2019re going to some of the addresses randomly and drop off Easter egg boxes on the door step,\u201d Mr Fitzgibbon said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile people registered their home addresses, we\u2019re kind of looking more at the streets.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo we\u2019ll pick some streets and drop to a number of houses and some may not be registered as part of the event, but hopefully they\u2019ll get a pleasant surprise and people can share with their friends and neighbours if they miss out.\u201d<\/p>\n
To take part perspective recipients had to sign up online, the radio station was also run a colouring competition for extra chances to attract the Easter Bunny.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
