THE State government has permitted the Linton and District Men\u2019s Shed to start building their new fit-for-purpose facility during the lockdown period.<\/p>\n
President, Michael Hough heads up the \u201cstrong little group\u201d and is expecting to see some action at their new home behind the Linton CFA next week.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve been given the go-ahead to proceed, with builders working as labourers. We\u2019re about to lay the slab,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re hoping to get on and get that building started before the winter comes and we can\u2019t get onto the block.\u201d<\/p>\n
Emerging from the other side of the pandemic, the team looks forward to hitting the ground running, so to speak. Mr Hough said shed visits will be \u201cvital\u201d as everyone recovers.<\/p>\n
\u201cI know a bloke who is craving human contact. He\u2019s desperate for it. A project will get him and everyone up and running.\u201d<\/p>\n
Members, older and younger, are keeping in touch via phone and email to ensure those in their community are happy and healthy.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a close-knit little group, so we keep an eye on one another in this new way of communicating,\u201d Mr Hough said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve got some members who are very vulnerable, if they were to go out, so we\u2019re in contact with them to ensure they have their needs met.\u201d<\/p>\n
The new Linton Community Garden will live and grow adjacent to the shed on its large block. With garden beds made from recycled wood and old and split paddock drums, the space will be a perfect spot to meet people.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs soon as restrictions come down, we\u2019ll be out and about, getting the gardening going as well. It\u2019s really good news,\u201d Mr Hough said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
