DUE to COVID-19 precautions, visiting grandparents and other relatives in nursing homes and senior living facilities has never been more difficult.<\/p>\n
Fortunately, Bannockburn residents are helping their kids keep in touch with the elderly by delivering gifts and letters to the local Estia Health facility.<\/p>\n
Professional artist Jen Jones has been distributing her own specially printed postcards to the community so that they can write down messages for seniors.<\/p>\n
\u201cI posted about the cards on the Bannockburn community Facebook page and I was just flooded with comments and messages from people who wanted some,\u201d said Ms Jones.<\/p>\n
\u201cEven after they\u2019ve taken some cards, people will message me and tell me how much they love the design, or how their kids have them, it\u2019s all very nice.\u201d<\/p>\n
In just a matter of days approximately 150 cards have been requested from Ms Jones, promising hopeful and positive messages for the residents of seniors facility.<\/p>\n
To help protect at-risk citizens, the federal government encourages people to call, send photos and videos or deliver letters and notes at a distance.<\/p>\n
Estia Health Bannockburn Executive director Pam Vince said she is looking forward to seeing more presents delivered by family and friends.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve had families drop some things off to their grandparents, but we haven\u2019t seen any postcards delivered just yet,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHowever, we do know that the community has been incredibly supportive during this tough time and we\u2019re looking forward to seeing the postcards sent through soon.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
