AN upgraded Miners Rest Primary School is set to include more than just fresh classrooms, following the State government release of campus architectural expansion plans.<\/p>\n
New spaces to be developed include 10 classrooms, an administration area, arts, music and food rooms, a kitchen garden, landscaped play areas, a community football oval, and a competition quality gym.<\/p>\n
Plans for the new learning infrastructure is based on feedback from local families following consultation.<\/p>\n
Minister for Education James Merlino said collaboration has been big part of the project.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re working with families to deliver a bigger and better local primary school for the Miners Rest community,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Yet Member for Ripon, Louise Staley said the development, still within design stages, was not at the point she\u2019d like.<\/p>\n
\u201cI share the sentiments of the Miners Rest community that it is pleasing to see some progress on this vital project,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat the Miners Rest community needs, is a school project that is fully funded and underway.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn March, in the parliament, I again asked the education minister to commit to fully funding the expansion of the Miners Rest Primary School, but the government has refused to commit the funds to build the project.\u201d<\/p>\n
So far land and planning have cost the State government $6.2 million at the school site, with money allocated in both the 2018-19 and 2019-20 budgets.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
