{"id":68437,"date":"2020-04-28T12:25:04","date_gmt":"2020-04-28T01:25:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=68437"},"modified":"2020-04-28T12:33:45","modified_gmt":"2020-04-28T01:33:45","slug":"virtual-choir-a-soulful-ray-of-sunshine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/news\/virtual-choir-a-soulful-ray-of-sunshine\/","title":{"rendered":"Virtual choir a soulful ray of sunshine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WHEN Georgie and Geoffrey Williams first saw a digitally curated group performance of <em>Close to You<\/em>, they were inspired.<\/p>\n<p>Singers, songwriters and choir leaders themselves, they missed music and didn\u2019t want to \u201csit on our hands\u201d during lockdown.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe just loved the Couch Choir girls online and thought, we could do something like that,\u201d Mr Williams said.<\/p>\n<p>Part of council\u2019s Be Kind \u2013 Be Creative campaign, Ballarat is invited to join the couple\u2019s initiative, Virtual Soul Choir, by learning and singing a part of the Williams\u2019 original song, <em>Ray of sunshine<\/em>, and filming themselves.<\/p>\n<p>Two hundred and fifty people have already signed up to perform the \u201cpertinent\u201d music from home.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of metaphor in there. \u2018What are you going to do about the state of the world? Why not look and see a ray of sunshine in everyone.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re all connecting in an interesting, beautiful way now. People have said they\u2019re loving the song and this project has been a positive, ray of sunshine for them,\u201d Mr Williams said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s so exciting just to see these people singing the parts that we wrote at home. Some of them have dressed up, they\u2019re standing in front of the camera, they open their mouth and it wows us. It\u2019s the greatest thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Williams is encouraging a final wave of entries before curation closes at midnight on Sunday, 3 May.
