LETTER TO THE EDITOR<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Dear Editor,<\/p>\n

I write to encourage readers to sign up to the COVIDSafe app which will support our nation\u2019s health response to the coronavirus pandemic and save lives.<\/p>\n

Like hundreds of thousands of other Australians, I downloaded the app when registrations opened and urge everyone to get on board.<\/p>\n

While this is voluntary, the more people who sign up to the app, the sooner we will be able to get through this pandemic.<\/p>\n

The app will help public health officials minimise the spread of the coronavirus by providing automated contact tracing information. Rather than undertake a laborious manual process, COVIDSafe will speed up the process of identifying people who have been in close contact with someone diagnosed with coronavirus.<\/p>\n

This will not only help to minimise the spread of this highly infectious virus, it will also protect our doctors, nurses and other frontline health workers.<\/p>\n

Across regional Victoria, communities have done an extraordinary job at flattening the curve by complying with social distancing and other restrictions to contain the spread of the virus.<\/p>\n
