The four stations are located at the start of the rowing course near Cardigan Street, Durham Point, Windmill Drive and St Patrick\u2019s Point.<\/p>\n
\u201cParticularly during the COVID-19 crisis we\u2019ve seen more and more people getting out and about and walking around the lake,\u201d said Member for Wendouree Juliana Addison. \u201cWe know these four new gym stations are going to be so well received.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe believe that by installing this important gym equipment, that is free and accessible to everyone, people can get in there, have a go and do something different.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese for gym stations are going to promote a really healthy and active Ballarat community.\u201d<\/p>\n
Costing $272,000 for all four sites, the equipment was installed by the City of Ballarat and mayor Cr Ben Taylor thanked the State government through Regional Development Victoria for funding the project.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a really great opportunity for Ballarat as a whole to enjoy exercise equipment around the lake,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe State government, and they\u2019ve contributed the funding for this, we\u2019re really just the delivery agent.\u201d<\/p>\n
With COVID-19 prevention and personal safety and hygiene at the forefront of many people\u2019s minds, Cr Taylor said the equipment will be cleaned \u201cmore than once a day.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also urged people to use the new public faculties in a COVID-safe way.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs we\u2019re coming of restrictions we still need to make sure we\u2019re safe,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen you do get opportunities, wash your hands, use sanitiser and keep that social distancing.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
