{"id":69495,"date":"2020-06-24T10:42:58","date_gmt":"2020-06-24T00:42:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=69495"},"modified":"2020-06-24T10:42:58","modified_gmt":"2020-06-24T00:42:58","slug":"ballarat-council-delays-budget-okay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/news\/ballarat-council-delays-budget-okay\/","title":{"rendered":"Ballarat council delays budget okay"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A FINAL decision on the <a href=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/news\/no-increase-to-rates-fees-or-charges-in-draft-budget\/\">City of Ballarat 2020\/21 budget<\/a> has been held over by two weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Originally set for a final decision on 24 June, the thumbs up \u2013 or down, was postponed until 8 July.<\/p>\n<p>The decision came after a special meeting last week to hear community input on the financial plan.<\/p>\n<p>An unattributed statement released by the municipality shortly after that meeting said the delay was \u201cto fully consider the submissions heard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, the next day mayor Cr Ben Taylor gave a different reason relating to the recent appointment of interim CEO Janet Dore.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe new CEO\u2019s come on board, here\u2019s an opportunity for the CEO to work with council with that budget,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had the discussion with the CEO before hand around her views on the budget. She hasn\u2019t had a chance to review it in detail.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cr Taylor also said not having an approved budget by the start of the financial year would not be a problem.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere will be no issues in relation to that extra two weeks,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A FINAL decision on the City of Ballarat 2020\/21 budget has been held over by two weeks.
