{"id":69515,"date":"2020-06-24T11:12:32","date_gmt":"2020-06-24T01:12:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=69515"},"modified":"2020-06-24T11:30:44","modified_gmt":"2020-06-24T01:30:44","slug":"special-homes-for-those-who-need-it-most","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/living\/special-homes-for-those-who-need-it-most\/","title":{"rendered":"Special homes for those who need it most"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Salt Torquay set to provide a Surf Coast region first in Specialist Disability Accommodation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>IN a first for the Surf Coast, a group of local professionals with a shared passion to enable people with a disability access to the unique Torquay lifestyle are collaborating at Salt.<\/p>\n<p>Salt is fast being recognised for commitment to sustainability and liveability and will soon include Specialist Disability Accommodation in direct response to community need.<\/p>\n<p>Expressions of interest are being sought for a select number of purpose built, SDA houses to be constructed by SDA Fund Australia.<\/p>\n<p>SDA Fund chair Mark Casey said that he is delighted to be able to incorporate SDA within the quality development of Salt Townhomes, and is a passion project for him.<\/p>\n<p>NDIS Provider, Inhab Australia will be the interface between the developer, builder and the participant to ensure people with extreme functional impairment, and or very high support needs can be accommodated with full support.<\/p>\n<p>Director Alison McLeod said that this exciting new project is set to address the situation where people are residing in substandard accommodation waiting for exactly this type of option.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis project will not only meet, but exceed the requirements of the NDIA Design Standard released in October 2019,\u201d Ms McLeod said.<\/p>\n<p>Surf Coast Shire Mayor Rose Hodge, who is passionate about providing more suitable disability care and support in the region, said that it is great to see this fantastic collaboration taking place in the Surf Coast.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt would be wonderful if every new estate had this level of inclusiveness to enable everyone to be an active part of their local community,\u201d Cr Hodge said.<\/p>\n<p>Surf Coast CEO Keith Baillie also acknowledged the importance of this initiative for more supportive disability accommodation in the Shire.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCouncil is supportive of this type of integrated development and would like to see projects like this expanded to other communities in the region,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Barwon Water\u2019s head of Strategy, Systems and Environment, Seamus Butcher, said that Barwon Water is thrilled to be part of this great initiative.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs well as its 7.5-star One Planet Living rating, a key design focus of Salt Torquay was to meet the Liveable Housing Australia accessible design guidelines,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSalt Torquay represent Barwon Water\u2019s commitment to accessibility, sustainability and affordability.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe proceeds from the sale of lots from Salt Torquay help keep customer bills affordable as we deliver our essential water and sewerage services.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Inhab Australia are registered provider of SDA and support coordination services.<\/p>\n<p>For all enquiries regarding SDA @ Salt Townhomes please call <strong>0408 300 746<\/strong> or email <a href=\"mailto:info@inhab.com.au\"><strong>info@inhab.com.au<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Salt Torquay set to provide a Surf Coast region first in Specialist Disability Accommodation. &nbsp; IN a first for the Surf Coast, a group of local professionals with a shared passion to enable people with a disability access to the unique Torquay lifestyle are collaborating at Salt.
