The 1.2 million project was jointly funded with an $800,000 contribution from the State government\u2019s Fixing Country Roads Program, while the remaining $400,000 came from the Federal government\u2019s Roads to Recovery Program.<\/p>\n
\u201cPitfield-Cressy Road is an important transport link in our Shire\u2019s rural heart, and this 3.8-kilometre upgrade has delivered a safer and smoother road for residents, workers and visitors alike,\u201d said Golden Plains Shire mayor Cr Owen Sharkey.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe past year has been a busy one for road upgrades, and delivering this important $1.2 million project with Federal and State government grants has allowed council to redirect its road budget to additional works across the Shire.\u201d<\/p>\n
The recently completed capital works come on top of others undertaken along Pitfield-Cressy Road since 2016.<\/p>\n
In the last four years new box culverts were added to the bridge over the Little Woady Yaloak Creek, and other winding works were undertaken from that bridge to Werneth Road, as well as along a 1-kilometer section towards Colac-Ballarat Road.<\/p>\n
\u201cCouncil is delighted to have been able to complete this upgrade of Pitfield-Cressy Road, following several years of works to improve the road for our community,\u201d Cr Sharkey said.<\/p>\n
