HOME building company Metricon is gearing up for a big second half of 2020, with plans to take on a range of workers.<\/p>\n
Simon Taylor, the company\u2019s regional west manager, said the growth was being spurred by the Federal government\u2019s HomeBuilder program.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe introduction of the scheme has bolstered the confidence of those thinking of building and contributed to a boom in activity in our regional markets,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis will create many new job opportunities for locals, as we plan to undertake a high volume of building in the back end of this year and early next year.\u201d<\/p>\n
The HomeBulider program provides for a $25,000 grant to new homes under $750,000 and when combined with other existing first home owner schemes, means Metricon is expecting strong uptake of the offer over the next six to 12 months.<\/p>\n
\u201cFirst home buyers are definitely a very active segment of Metricon customers at the moment,\u201d Mr Taylor said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHomeBuilder is an additional $25,000 incentive on top of existing first home buyer government grants, along with continued stamp duty exemptions and discounts, that are giving first home buyers in secure work more confidence to plan their purchases.\u201d<\/p>\n
The result is the company is gearing up for expansion and looking for local skilled workers to help with the growth in demand.<\/p>\n
Metricon will soon be advertising for site managers, estimators and draftspersons on Seek, while tradespeople are advised to contact Metricon\u2019s Ballarat office.<\/p>\n
