INDEPENDENT artists, designers and craftspeople can apply to showcase and sell their work from the Hattie and the Wolf<\/a> Creative Space, between October and December.<\/p>\n

Andrea Hurley established the Space within her Skipton Street store to celebrate and promote emerging or established Australian creatives on a rotational, monthly basis, from visual artists to ceramicists, clothing makers to woodworkers, gift makers to stationers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Creative Space was initially born out of a need to fill a space in a collaborative way,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I opened, I didn’t have a lot of stock, or money to buy stock, so I invited several other local businesses to join me. They rented space and I sold their goodies.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have always been passionate about helping other businesses grow and I saw this as a great way to get their goods in front of fresh eyes.\u201d<\/p>\n

A graphic artist herself, Hurley said it makes sense to give her fellow creatives a \u201cleg-up\u201d and a new audience, at a time when COVID-19 restrictions have impacted the accessibility of makers\u2019 markets.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe community and our customers get to experience market shopping five days a week in the Creative Space, instead of once every three or four months, which is what Hattie and the Wolf is all about,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere’s nothing better than buying from small, independent and handmade businesses. The businesses themselves will have their products merchandised in a professionally appointed and well promoted venue, which will hopefully help to grow their profiles, and in turn, their businesses.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith Christmas coming, it will be a great opportunity for them to sell some stock.\u201d<\/p>\n
