A NEW air filtration system at the Buninyong Men\u2019s Shed will ensure all members of the creative and social community organisation can breathe easily once they return, post lockdown.<\/p>\n

Funded by a $6000 grant from the Buninyong & District Community Bank<\/a>, president Graham Perkins said the four units filter air down to five-microns and are proving effective.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe cost of the units was just over $4000, the parts and fittings with the electrical people came to about $1700, and we put them up ourselves,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s all about air quality for the guys getting on in their years. The units have three speeds; low, medium or high, and spit out suitable air for breathing.\u201d<\/p>\n

The filtration system is wired to run after the Shed shuts, so when members return, there\u2019s no dust settling.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a good, healthy option for a clean environment. We really are appreciative to the bank, and grateful for the safer atmosphere the units create,\u201d Mr Perkins said.<\/p>\n

Buninyong & District Community Bank chair, Ian Corcoran said the board has been an active supporter of the Shed from the outset.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur purpose is to build community by supporting groups and organisations, such as the Men\u2019s Shed, which play a pivotal role in addressing social isolation for men,\u201d he said<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Shed provides a safe, friendly and welcoming place for men to work on meaningful projects, which contribute to the wider community.\u201d<\/p>\n
