WestVic Academy of Sport<\/a> is a strategy foundational partner. WVAS executive officer, Corey Saitta said the plan is a roadmap to optimise local and broader regional sport and recreation programs.<\/p>\n\u201cIn our case at the WestVic Academy of Sport, the strategy looks at ways of strengthening sporting pathways for athletes from the region by fostering grass roots community participation, through to regional, state and national selection level,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe overarching vision underpinning the strategy is for us to work together to ensure that the Central Highlands and Grampians-Pyrenees region is the most active, healthy and liveable in Victoria.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sports at the forefront of the plan include cycling, athletics, indoor cricket, tennis, hockey and skating.<\/p>\n
With Women\u2019s Health Grampians, Ballarat and District Aboriginal Cooperative, Sports Central and Central Highlands Primary Care Partnership also on board, Activate 2020 \u2013 2030 also covers the Ararat Rural City Council as well as Golden Plains, Hepburn, Moorabool, Northern Grampians and Pyrenees shires.<\/p>\n
City of Ballarat mayor, Cr Ben Taylor said Activate 2020 \u2013 2030 will promote teamwork amongst participating municipalities and strengthen joint sporting and recreation infrastructure.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt will untap the vast potential of our communities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
