THE City\u2019s Youth Services team and Sonika<\/a> committee has launched an arts initiative, Lockdown Lab, to ensure Ballarat\u2019s musical youths can continue to create tunes in stage three lockdown.<\/p>\n

With hip-hop and RnB inspired artist Sarah Barclay, AKA Floc, at the helm as facilitator, the Lab has been designed to support young people to simply log on and let their creative juices flow, without arriving at any creative or technological barriers.<\/p>\n

BandLab is the chosen program musicians can access, to write songs and share what they\u2019re making with their peers, fans, friends and family, and once a week on a Thursday, the Sonika BandLab platform will be themed to nurture collaboration.<\/p>\n

City of Ballarat mayor, Cr Ben Taylor said Lockdown Lab is a \u201cmagnificent initiative\u201d and expects it will be popular amongst the district\u2019s musical young people<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt follows the success of the Fully Sick Festival<\/a> earlier this year. Young people don\u2019t want to follow online events passively, they want to be involved,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cLockdown Lab will give them the opportunity to have fun and be creative.\u201d<\/p>\n
