MEREDITH History Interest Group has received a Shire Community Strengthening Grant<\/a> from the program\u2019s creative category.<\/p>\n

With $2662.50, MHIG president, Marg Cooper<\/a> said funds will boost their Bringing History Alive initiative in \u201cinteresting and entertaining ways.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe main aims of the project are to research and print a book about the history of the local hotels that have operated in Meredith since 1842,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will create both permanent and temporary displays. This will include eight transportable display boards representing the hotels of Meredith, which will be professionally produced, that can be used at other venues as a static display, or as part of a presentation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere will also be permanent display boards at the MHIG building, to showcase events that occurred in Meredith\u2019s history to members and visitors.\u201d<\/p>\n

The group hopes to commission a custom fabricated display box, with a presentation of people who lived in the town.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople can open the doors and come face to face with someone from Meredith\u2019s history; a photo with captions as to their role in Meredith,\u201d Mrs Cooper said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe look forward to showcasing our Bringing History Alive project to Meredith and wider communities in upcoming months.\u201d<\/p>\n

MHIG is grateful to the Shire for continuously supporting the group\u2019s goals, and especially, this latest project.<\/p>\n
