It\u2019s a growing kitchen utensil town by a tree, full of spoons which children in the neighbourhood have made into characters or simply decorated artistically.<\/p>\n<p>Inspired by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/australia-news\/2020\/sep\/02\/a-form-of-connection-spoonville-craze-revives-community-spirit-in-australia\">national Spoonville craze<\/a>, the Harris family launched the local initiative, placing their first spoons in the ground, including eldest child <a href=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/lemons-launch-more-than-lemonade\/\">Cleo\u2019s<\/a> <em>Harry Potter<\/em> creation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI enjoyed making the spoons because we could pick anyone out of a book or a movie&#8230; anything,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI chose Hermione Granger. She\u2019s always bubbly and happy, and she\u2019s my favourite character, so it was a lot of fun.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_71150\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-71150\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-71150\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2020\/09\/118888280_751160735452071_4494360737314653319_n-e1599380564639-300x289.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"289\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2020\/09\/118888280_751160735452071_4494360737314653319_n-e1599380564639-300x289.jpg 300w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2020\/09\/118888280_751160735452071_4494360737314653319_n-e1599380564639.jpg 756w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-71150\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: ERIN HARRIS<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Taking a photo of the spoons her three children had placed in the ground, <a href=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/aiding-others-mobility-by-saving-household-rubbish\/\">mum Erin Harris<\/a> invited those living nearby to add to the project\u2019s population.<\/p>\n<p>So far, about six families from the neighbourhood have made their mark in Spoonville, working together while apart. One of those families has crafted a town sign in pebbles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s so many different characters, people\u2019s pets, it\u2019s really colourful, and there\u2019s a lot to see,\u201d Cleo said.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s been exciting for Mrs Harris and her family to peep out their window and see people on their iso walks stopping by the tree to visit the kingdom and take a closer look.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_71149\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-71149\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-71149\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2020\/09\/Spoon-family1-300x243.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"243\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-71149\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Some spoon characters reflect residents of the Ballarat North community.
