NOMINATIONS are now open for this year’s Golden Plains Shire Community Awards.<\/p>\n

The awards formally acknowledge extraordinary individuals and community groups who make an outstanding contribution to the Shire.<\/p>\n

They will be presented to three individuals: Citizen of the Year, Senior Citizen of the Year, and Young Citizen of the Year.<\/p>\n

The fourth award, the Community Impact Award, recognises the valuable contribution of a community event, project, group or team.<\/p>\n

Nominee achievements are welcome in fields including community service, arts and culture, environment, business, economic development and sport.<\/p>\n

Golden Plains chief executive officer Eric Braslis encouraged Shire residents to nominate their local leaders, neighbours and colleagues to recognise the valuable contribution they make to life in the municipality.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis year has been unique and council wants to recognise local people who have supported their neighbours and communities during this difficult time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic have highlighted the valuable contributions of those who, every day, help to make Golden Plains Shire a wonderful place to call home.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn 2020, there are have been remarkable stories of service to the community and Council asks all residents to thank and honour these individuals and groups with a nomination for the Golden Plains Shire Council Community Awards.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nominations for the Golden Plains Shire Council Community Awards 2020 are open until 5pm on November 23.<\/p>\n

For a copy of the easy award nomination form, head to goldenplains.vic.gov.au<\/strong><\/a> or pick up a copy at a customer service centre at 2 Pope Street, Bannockburn or The Well, Heales Street, Smythesdale. Both locations are open from 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.<\/p>\n

To submit a nomination, send the completed nomination form by email to events@gplains.vic.gov.au<\/strong><\/a> or post to Events & Engagement Officer, Golden Plains Shire Council, 2 Pope Street, Bannockburn 3331.<\/p>\n
