THE Ballarat Dog Obedience Club is back in operation at Victoria Park, educating owners and socialising dogs.<\/p>\n
Providing ethical, fun and respectful dog training with positive reinforcement, the Club works to support people in becoming the best owners and trainers possible.<\/p>\n
Obedience coordinator Carol Hodges said the Club is about \u201ctraining the handler, not the dog,\u201d and is an accessible group for people of all abilities.<\/p>\n
A responsible dog ownership program will run this month, designed for those seeking guidance surrounding how to train a newly acquired dog, and best ownership practice.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe teach people about socialisation and respect of other dogs, and that sometimes dog parks are not the best place for dogs,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe also show them how to handle their dogs\u2019 feet, ears, mouth, eyes and tail. It\u2019s all about education, and to let them know by-laws.\u201d<\/p>\n
