THREE Ballarat emergency food relief organisations have received State Government backing in the form of cash grants.<\/p>\n
Just over $145,000 was split between Ballarat Seventh-day Adventist Church, Ballarat Neighbourhood Centre and Uniting Care Ballarat.<\/p>\n
The Good Samaritan Centre Food Distribution Facility, run by the Seventh-day Adventists, was the biggest beneficiary, with $67,000 going towards building a powered and secure food storage shed.<\/p>\n
Ballarat Neighbourhood Centre was allocated $35,000 to expand its Feed Local, Free Food Fridays program.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs we wrap up 2020, our fabulous team of volunteers and learners with support from our community have produced nearly 7000 meals helping 875 families,\u201d said Neighbourhood Centre CEO Vicki Coltman.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis grant will help us in 2021 continue to support our clients and families who most need our help.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Uniting Care Ballarat\u2019s Breezeway Kitchen will use just over $43,000 to buy new catering equipment to carry on that organisation\u2019s work.<\/p>\n
