{"id":73269,"date":"2020-12-24T09:01:50","date_gmt":"2020-12-23T22:01:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=73269"},"modified":"2020-12-24T09:01:50","modified_gmt":"2020-12-23T22:01:50","slug":"input-sought-on-seniors-focused-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/news\/input-sought-on-seniors-focused-plan\/","title":{"rendered":"Input sought on seniors focused plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Shire is seeking feedback on its draft Active Ageing &amp; Inclusion Plan which will guide the municipality\u2019s approach to seniors for the next four years.<\/p>\n<p>Looking at ways to provide the best services and support for older residents in Golden Plains, the document explores active ageing, inclusion issues and disability access relating to the Shire\u2019s operations, and potential improvement timelines.<\/p>\n<p>Community consultation towards the end of last year has informed the current draft of the plan, shining a light on accessibility problems, responsive priority projects and opportunities for change in the social, supportive, built and natural, and leadership environments.<\/p>\n<p>At the Shire December council meeting, Cr Clayton Whitfield said the plan is required by the <em>Disability Act 2006<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt does enable the council to take some steps forward in improvement in aged care, disability access, inclusion and community awareness of those things,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Cr Owen Sharkey expects the plan will gain a \u201cfresh approach\u201d from further resident perspectives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019ll be some great ideas coming out of this, so hopefully the plan that\u2019s put together goes forward for our communities out there,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Feedback on the draft will be taken until Sunday, 31 January. Email <strong>enquiries@gplains.vic.gov.au<\/strong> or send a letter to Golden Plains Shire Council, PO Box 111, Bannockburn, 3331.<\/p>\n<p>Read the draft at <strong>goldenplains.vic.gov.au\/consultations<\/strong>, or source a hard copy at the Council Customer Service Centre, 2 Pope Street, Bannockburn, or 19 Heales Street, Smythesdale.
