FOLLOWING the state\u2019s easing of restrictions on events late last year Golden Plains Shire has kick started a new grants program aimed at funding various community group projects.<\/p>\n

With the idea of assisting community groups to bounce back after the pandemic, the $35,000 COVID-19 Quick Response Community Grants program offers up to $4000 per application.<\/p>\n

In recognising that the pandemic changed the way various community groups and individuals operate, mayor Cr Helena Kirby encouraged people to take advantage of the new initiative.<\/p>\n

\u201c[This] is the latest part of our response to these changed circumstances,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe grants will help eligible organisations activate community spaces and deliver new or improved programs, services and events, all in a COVID-safe manner.<\/p>\n

\u201cGolden Plains Shire is home to some fantastic community groups, and I hope to see many take up this opportunity from council to help them get back to what they love to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

The grants are available in two categories, the first being Operating in COVID Environment Grant which aims to assist community organisations ability to foster a COVID-safe environment in line he current restrictions with grants up to $1000 up for grabs.<\/p>\n

The second category, Community Engage, Connect and Recover Initiatives, hopes to supply grants of up to $4,000 to support groups deliver new or existing projects and activities with the aim of helping the Shire get back to normal after COVID-19.<\/p>\n

The first round of the of the program is now open and applications will close on 1 February or until all funds are allocated.<\/p>\n

Applications can be submitted online at goldenplains.smartygrants.com.au<\/strong><\/a> and community groups seeking further information can visit goldenplains.vic.gov.au\/grants<\/strong><\/a>, or contact the Community Services Admin Support Officer on 5220 7109<\/strong> or communitygrants@gplains.vic.gov.au<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
