CONSTRUCTION by Barwon Water on a pipe that links Lethbridge to a water storage site north of the town will begin early next month.<\/p>\n
The $2.7 million project will see 6.5 kilometres of pipe laid parallel to the Midland Highway from the town to a one-megalitre water tank at Medina Road, just north of Lethbridge Airport.<\/p>\n
Barwon Water managing director Tracey Slatter said the capital works were aimed at adding to the town\u2019s water supply.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe existing drinking water main that supplies the Lethbridge community is nearing capacity,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs a result, peak-use periods can cause the water pressure to fall. The installation of the new pipeline will continue to ensure that we\u2019re providing sufficient water pressure for our customers throughout the year, and will allow future demand to be met.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe do not anticipate any disruption of water supply as part of these works but residents will be notified by mail with more information if this changes.\u201d<\/p>\n
The works will begin on 1 February and run until June and there\u2019ll be speed restrictions and traffic management in the area during construction.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
