{"id":73742,"date":"2021-02-04T04:54:50","date_gmt":"2021-02-03T17:54:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=73742"},"modified":"2021-02-04T23:20:51","modified_gmt":"2021-02-04T12:20:51","slug":"buninyong-community-movie-night","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/news\/buninyong-community-movie-night\/","title":{"rendered":"Movie Night connects families"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE free Buninyong Community Movie Night is back at De Soza Park this Saturday evening, screening <em>Sonic the Hedgehog<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>An initiative of the RoadNats\u2019 sponsors and organisers, the annual family open-air cinema event will run from 5.30pm to 10pm, aiming to generate further community spirit and Buninyong village pride, and encourage resident networking.<\/p>\n<p>Buninyong Primary School\u2019s 600 children were part of the film selection process, voting to screen 2020\u2019s <em>Sonic<\/em> release from a list of eight titles.<\/p>\n<p>Grade 6 student, Annabel said gatherings like the Movie Night make young people \u201cfeel part of the community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to spending some time with my family,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think kids will enjoy the movie because they prefer cartoons, and I\u2019m looking forward to coming down to watch the cycling and see what\u2019s possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Principal Bernie Conlan appreciated the organisers asking the children for their viewing preferences.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s much more likely then that they\u2019ll come along if they\u2019ve played a role in selecting a movie, and a movie that they\u2019ll like, rather than what the adults think they might like,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s great for the kids to be involved in the Road Nationals, seeing as it\u2019s such a big event.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Also offering food trucks for dinner, and live music, the facilitators are working to ensure the event is COVID-safe.<\/p>\n<p>Arrive early with picnic gear to secure a viewing spot and enjoy the early entertainment, before the movie begins at 7.30pm.<\/p>\n<p>Wandering around Buninyong, you may also notice scattered red bikes filled with flowerpots.
