VICTORIA Bowling Club is adjusting well to the new game tempo experienced by three of their teams who were promoted into higher grades of Ballarat District Bowls Division for the 2021 season.<\/p>\n

“It’s been a good effort by our teams in Division 1, 3 and 4 who won premierships in the previous season and were promoted this year and needing to adjust to a higher grade of competition,\u201d said Robert Chapman.<\/p>\n

Last Saturday the club’s Division 1 side had a comfortable win at home over the visiting Beaufort.<\/p>\n

The win places them just inside the top four and challenging Central Wendouree who are in third – just a point ahead. Competition for finals is close, with City Oval and Waubra also just outside the four.<\/p>\n

Victoria’s Division 3 side has found it a big step up from last year’s lower grade and their home game against top of the table Creswick saw a narrow five-point win for the visitors.<\/p>\n

Shane Britt’s rink got the only victory on the day and the result places the Vics in ninth position on the ladder with a three and seven record.<\/p>\n

The big news for the Big V last round was the Premiership team got the win on the road against BMS, meaning they leap frog their opponents and land in first place on the table.<\/p>\n

The move to promote Noel Verlinden to skipper has paid dividends with his side scoring an 11-shot victory over Mick Storey’s crew. Likewise, Wayne Lynch wheeled himself a 14-shot victory over Phil Clamp, while young BMS skipper Ryan Bedggood’s has continued the good season performance prevailing by a solitary shot over Shaun Clark.<\/p>\n

Victoria\u2019s Division 4 side, also playing at BMS, were unable to overcome the strong home team lead, meaning the side is in fifth position for the season.<\/p>\n

In Division 6 the Vics had a good performance away at Invermay scoring 16 points and locking down third place on the ladder, while the club’s Division 7 side scored a walkover.<\/p>\n
