LINTON\u2019S community green spaces will soon be spruced by the Progress Association\u2019s Gardening Group.<\/p>\n
Members including Mardi Reilly are aiming to get the town\u2019s streetscape looking its best. They\u2019re seeking ideas, suggestions and the help of fellow local green thumbs.<\/p>\n
\u201cLinton is such a pretty town, it now just needs loving, so that\u2019s what we want to do, bring the love back to Linton,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to do a garden bed on the corner of Gillespie and Sussex Street, similar to the pretty gardens you see in Ballarat. Edinburgh Reserve needs quite a bit of attention.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve nearly finished the community garden space next to our police station, where we\u2019re putting in a new seating area. We\u2019re doing this so Linton is a destination, rather than a place to journey through.\u201d<\/p>\n
Anybody that lives in the township, is interested in gardening and the area\u2019s beautification is invited to take action by joining the LDPA Gardening Group at 10am outside the Shire Hall on the first Saturday of every month.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve started tackling the Sussex Street median strip, and now we\u2019re tackling each garden bed around the pear trees on the footpath, on both sides of the road,\u201d Ms Reilly said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve also started a Garden Club, where once a month on a Saturday at 2pm we visit somebody\u2019s open garden in Linton, have a chat and a wander around.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s all about getting people inspired to want to live in a prettier town, and to take pride in where they live. The streetscape projects are little steps, before we branch out into side streets, or help those needing assistance with their home gardens.\u201d<\/p>\n
