{"id":74042,"date":"2021-02-18T04:45:26","date_gmt":"2021-02-17T17:45:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=74042"},"modified":"2021-02-18T08:11:14","modified_gmt":"2021-02-17T21:11:14","slug":"woady-warriors-come-try","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/sport\/woady-warriors-come-try\/","title":{"rendered":"Family-inspired club looking to grow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Woady Yaloak Warriors Football Netball Club are encouraging young families to join their community, hosting a come-and-try day this Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Offering Auskick, NetSetGO, and new addition Woolworths Cricket Blast in the coming months, the Warriors\u2019 trial morning will see children from five to 12 focus on their footy and netball skills.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s also an opportunity to try out for the Club\u2019s 2021 Ballarat Football Netball League Under Nine footy squad.<\/p>\n<p>Parent and committee member James O\u2019Dwyer got his eight-year-old son Aston involved in the Warriors last year. He said the new club\u2019s community is friendly, family-centric, and welcoming.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing part of a club from the ground upwards has been a fantastic experience,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve seen it grow and come to fruition from just a vision. There\u2019s been a lot of hard work, but to be part of the Warriors where we are now is very rewarding.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If parents have a child that loves sport but experiences some anxiety in social situations, Mr O\u2019Dwyer said it\u2019s worth giving the club a go.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy son tended to stand on the sidelines, but he\u2019s grown when we\u2019ve had back-to-back weeks of footy, and has made friends, seeing them on that weekly basis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t recommend getting involved in the club highly enough. You don\u2019t have to be from Haddon or Smythesdale to be part of our community either,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>All committee members are currently parents of Warriors players, but they need \u201cmore hands on deck.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of parents have a lot to give and offer. Many hands make light work. It\u2019s my first opportunity to be on sports club committee,\u201d Mr O\u2019Dwyer said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo be able to contribute and give back to club and community is great.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The come-and-try day will run on Sunday, 21 February from 10am to 12pm at the Smythesdale Recreation Reserve.<\/p>\n<p>Following the trial morning, the Auskick and NetSetGO programs will run at the Haddon Recreation Reserve.<\/p>\n<p>The first Cricket Blast session was held last Tuesday, 16 February from 4pm to 5.15pm at Smythesdale Recreation Reserve.<\/p>\n<p>Visit <a href=\"http:\/\/facebook.com\/woadywarriors\"><strong>facebook.com\/woadywarriors<\/strong><\/a> for more information on getting involved.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE Woady Yaloak Warriors Football Netball Club are encouraging young families to join their community, hosting a come-and-try day this Sunday.
