{"id":74144,"date":"2021-02-26T04:55:19","date_gmt":"2021-02-25T17:55:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=74144"},"modified":"2021-02-24T22:07:32","modified_gmt":"2021-02-24T11:07:32","slug":"lyric-we-will-rock-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/news\/lyric-we-will-rock-you\/","title":{"rendered":"Lyric gets ready to Rock You"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BALLARAT Lyric Theatre wants everyone to hear a little less \u2018COVID blah blah\u2019 and a lot more <em>Radio Ga Ga<\/em> in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The performing arts company will stage the Queen and Ben Elton\u2019s musical, <em>We Will Rock You<\/em> from July 15 to 25, bringing live, locally produced blockbuster theatre back to town.<\/p>\n<p>With lead characters Galileo (Montgomery Wilson) and Scaramouche (Vanessa Belsar) striving to save the world through the arts and music, the futuristic story includes many of Queen\u2019s hit songs, and will be brought to life on stage by 46 Ballarat performers.<\/p>\n<p>Director Stephen Armati suggested Lyric produce this musical.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter the 12 months people have had, they need and deserve a good, fun night out. It\u2019s been a tough time, the arts have helped people get through lockdown, so we ask them to support live theatre, and get us back on track,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are 24 Queen songs in <em>We Will Rock You<\/em>; quite a comprehensive catalogue. All the main songs are in there, plus a few I wasn\u2019t even aware of.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur live band is awesome, and we\u2019re bringing in a very large MCG-sized scoreboard into the theatre to complement the production.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The creative team also includes Jane Nice, Kristiana Withers and Katherine Armati, alongside the band featuring Lyndon Kriss, Adam Cameron, Jason Hubble, Shane Pearson, Dave Clark, Adrian Liston and Stewart Greedy.<\/p>\n<p>Musical numbers include <em>We Are the Champions<\/em>, <em>I Want to Break Free<\/em>, <em>Somebody to Love<\/em>, <em>Killer Queen, Don\u2019t Stop Me Now<\/em>, <em>Under Pressure<\/em>, <em>Bohemian Rhapsody<\/em>, and <em>Another One Bites the Dust<\/em>, along with the title song, <em>We Will Rock You<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are on sale soon at <a href=\"http:\/\/hermaj.com\"><strong>hermaj.com<\/strong><\/a>.
