{"id":74512,"date":"2021-03-17T04:56:59","date_gmt":"2021-03-16T17:56:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=74512"},"modified":"2021-03-18T10:54:02","modified_gmt":"2021-03-17T23:54:02","slug":"jason-singh-taxiride","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/news\/jason-singh-taxiride\/","title":{"rendered":"A ticket to ride at Volta"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE lead vocalist of Melbourne Aus-rock band Taxiride, Jason Singh will take to Volta\u2019s stage this Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p>Offering songs by his iconic group, as well as his own solo compositions and some of his favourite classic tunes, Singh is famous for singing smash hits, 1999\u2019s <em>Get Set<\/em> and 2002\u2019s <em>Creepin\u2019 Up Slowly.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>He will perform in Ballarat with a three-piece acoustic ensemble as part of the <em>Jason Singh Plays Taxiride: Hits, Bits &amp; Beyond <\/em>national east-coast tour.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s his first in two years, continuing the \u2018ride\u2019 with a packed program of \u201csolid 90s nostalgia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m proud of everything I&#8217;ve done. Taxiride is where it all started for me,\u201d Singh said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m excited about playing these shows and getting to play a collection of songs I&#8217;ve rarely, some never, played live.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Taxiride has had nine top-40 hits since the 90s, and some top-fives including <em>Everywhere You Go<\/em>, alongside <em>Creepin\u2019 Up Slowly <\/em>and<em> Get Set.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Other deep-cuts from the band\u2019s discography will be played including <em>Skin<\/em>, <em>Saffron<\/em> and <em>World\u2019s Away<\/em>. Singh\u2019s solo work includes studio and cover albums, and club dance hits.<\/p>\n<p>Singh has toured with big names like John Farnham, Rick Astley, HANSON, and even Mariah Carey, so each gig, including the Volta performance, is set to be a unique one, with career stories, insights and influences shared from his band\u2019s 20-plus years.<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of <em>Jason Singh Plays Taxiride<\/em>, Visit Victoria has also given the performing artist some promotion.<\/p>\n<p>The most recent television commercial encouraging people to Visit Melbourne, and prepare for all that is has to offer, features <em>Get Set<\/em> as one of the city\u2019s home-grown anthems.<\/p>\n<p>The song was written by Tim Wild, is available via Warner Music Australia, and was published by Mushroom Music; the record company of the late Michael Gudinski.<\/p>\n<p>Gudinski passed away at the beginning of this month and was a champion of the arts in Australia, launching the careers of many solo names and bands including Kylie Minogue, Skyhooks and of course, Taxiride.<\/p>\n<p><em>Jason Singh Plays Taxiride<\/em> is an 18-plus event at Volta Arts and Culture this Saturday, 20 March. The show starts at 8pm.
