MEMBER for Buninyong Michaela Settle is encouraging the township\u2019s residents to share their thoughts on the proposed Buninyong Streetscape upgrades.<\/p>\n

Warrenheip Street\u2019s long bus stop, adjacent to the shopping strip, has been included in the City of Ballarat\u2019s concept drawings for the upgrade, although another bus stop exists 100 metres up the road on the Eyre Street corner.<\/p>\n

Last week, Ms Settle launched a community campaign to gain feedback on the plans, aware that this 45-metre-long stop services students, residents and visitors, but it could be removed to create a more usable public space, with a green area, seating, an outdoor dining zone, or more carparking.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Buninyong Streetscape project will help transform the heart of Buninyong, making it safer for pedestrians, creating new community spaces and helping local traders,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cMoving the bus stop could create more space… but it would also impact users… reliant on that stop. I want to make sure everyone gets to have their say; it\u2019s their main street, they should get to decide.<\/p>\n

\u201cI encourage anyone in Buninyong to have their say before Wednesday, 31 March. Once the survey has closed, I\u2019ll announce the result and work with all parties to deliver the outcome the Buninyong community wants.\u201d<\/p>\n

Buninyong Streetscape upgrades will be funded with a State injection of $300,000, and further financial assistance from the Buninyong & District Community Bank and the City.<\/p>\n
