COMMUNITY feedback is sought to see whether the Bannockburn Golf Club should upgrade its current sand scrapes to grass greens.<\/p>\n

To analyse the works and costs involved with the potential project, the volunteer-run club has commenced a feasibility study with consultation company Golf Business Advisory Services.<\/p>\n

The independent review will survey club members and the wider community, while examining the local golf market, golf industry trends and the club\u2019s present financial position.<\/p>\n

Bannockburn Golf Club president Dick Van Den Bosch said the club would love to hear what the citizens of Bannockburn have to say about the upgrade.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not just looking for the opinions of our members,\u201d he said. \u201cWe would like to hear from the wider community as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

The move to upgrade to turf came about after 60 new members joined to the Bannockburn Golf Club in the last year.<\/p>\n

Another source of inspiration came from an anonymous local identity, who has offered the club $1 million towards the cost of upgrading the sand scrapes.<\/p>\n

Mr Van Den Bosch said playing on grass greens is a \u201cmuch nicer\u201d experience.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith sand scrapes, you have to rake the sand yourself and some people don\u2019t like doing that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome people like to head down to Geelong to play on their grass greens, but why not keep them here?\u201d<\/p>\n

Since its establishment in 1971, the Bannockburn Golf Club has had a range of developments, such as a new clubhouse and a reticulated water system on all fairways.<\/p>\n
