COMMUNITY members from the south of Golden Plains Shire recently met with the Member for Polwarth to discuss key issues affecting their electorate.<\/p>\n

At the end of March, Liberal MP Richard Riordan hosted listening posts in Bannockburn and Inverleigh.<\/p>\n

The events provide a way for locals to meet with their MP face-to-face and discuss key issues and concerns they might have.<\/p>\n

Mr Riordan said it was a \u201cdelight\u201d to meet with members of the community.<\/p>\n

\u201cLocals\u2026 have the most valuable insights into their community and can share a wide range of local knowledge with me that helps me to do my job of representing them better,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Several issues were raised at the listening posts, including police coverage in the growing Bannockburn and Inverleigh regions, as well as the uncertainty of after-hours police callouts.<\/p>\n

Residents were also concerned about how population growth across the Shire might affect town character in some areas, as well as a heightened need for improved roads and public transport.<\/p>\n

Mr Riordan said he encouraged community members to reach out to him at any time.<\/p>\n

\u201cResidents can feel free to contact me via my website, over the phone, email or through my social media pages,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy job as a state member is to reflect the opinions and concerns of my electorate, so I think it\u2019s very important to be as accessible as I can be.\u201d<\/p>\n
