It just stands out, and it\u2019s amazing to see it,\u201d Gilson said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe other <em>Wonder Women <\/em>are amazing ladies, and they were so happy. They come from the desert, and for them it was overwhelming, as it was for me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBallarat\u2019s going to be showcased on those sails for a year-and-a-half, so it\u2019s a great help for our tourism. I love The Goldfields, and this is an honour.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If having her art celebrated on one of the country\u2019s most iconic buildings wasn\u2019t enough, Gilson was also given a special surprise at the launch event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I got there, my son Barry sung, and they filmed him for the archives. I\u2019ve been treated like a rock-star, really.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gilson\u2019s piece,<em> Ballarat, My Country<\/em> was purchased by the Art Gallery of New South Wales in 2020 for their permanent collection. It is on display at the Gallery alongside the \u201cold masters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat really made me cry,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The Sydney Opera House is at Bennelong Point on the lands of traditional owners, the Gadigal people<em>.
