DRY winter like conditions greeted the courageous Eureka Cycling Club riders who assembled for a forty-five-kilometre handicap race on the Mount Misery circuit on Sunday, 16 May.<\/p>\n
New rider Renee Clapham enjoyed the early hill climbs and rode away from her fellow limit racers Rob Kinna and Julie Connellan.<\/p>\n
Roger McMillan and Bob Morley had a tough day at the office against larger groups.<\/p>\n
The six-minute bunch consisting of Sharon Boyd, Craig Jenkins and Peter Livitsanis worked well together and looked like causing a boil over when the tool the lead inside the final five kilometres.<\/p>\n
Not to be out done, scratch rider Darryn Reed, who\u2019d been impressive for the entire race, led a small group which snatched the lead inside the final kilometre.<\/p>\n
As a result, a bunch sprint decided the day and Reed looked like claiming the victory, however a dropped chain put pay to his chances and Peter Canny crossed the line in first place.<\/p>\n
Graded scratch races will be conducted next weekend on the challenging Weatherboard circuit.<\/p>\n
