ANOTHER round of community consultation has been launched by Golden Plains Shire, this time looking into arts, culture and heritage.<\/p>\n
A range of different input processes are either currently running, or set for June, and there\u2019s even an opportunity to join the Shire\u2019s Arts, Culture and Heritage Strategy Reference Group.<\/p>\n
\u201cGolden Plains is a place rich in creativity and culture,\u201d said mayor Cr Helena Kirby. \u201cOur community understands the deep and powerful influence our history, art and creativity have in shaping our lives.<\/p>\n
\u201cCouncil want to extend and build on this understanding and to move forward in partnership with our community to ensure a vibrant and creatively connected Golden Plains for generations to come.\u201d<\/p>\n
Currently running until 16 June is an arts, culture and heritage survey with Golden Plains residents asked to complete the feedback either online or in hard copy, with documents available from the service centres in Bannockburn and Smythesdale.<\/p>\n
The survey looks at issues like interests and involvement in the arts, culture and heritage space, as well as what the Shire does well, your vision and where things could be done better.<\/p>\n
If direct feedback is more your thing, there\u2019s a series of focus group workshops set for mid-June in Meredith, Haddon, Dereel, Smythesdale, Bannockburn and online.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, a reference group will give extra feedback to the Shire on the issues of arts, culture and heritage. Expressions of interest to join that group close on Friday, 21 May at 4pm.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile a living document, the strategy serves as a planning tool providing council with a clear set of priorities for the enhancement of arts, culture and heritage projects and initiatives across the Shire,\u201d said Cr Kirby.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe encourage our passionate local artists, creatives and historians, and the many community members who support their work, to have their say in the survey or attend a local workshop.\u201d<\/p>\n
