Those who love live performance and art will be enthralled by a fresh Ballarat production this month.<\/p>\n

Federation University\u2019s Arts Academy will present Where do I Come From? I ask Myself!<\/em>, a mixture of visual arts and live performance, led by world-renowned artist and senior lecturer Jill Orr, with guest artists and more than 50 students.<\/p>\n

Ms Orr explained how the students drew on their own experience of living in Ballarat in 2021 while considering first-hand accounts of settlers\u2019 lives in Wadawurrung Country.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is their response, the rich stories gathered by interviews and historic accounts,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

There will be two different performances by two groups, loosely bound together by ideas and histories of arrival.<\/p>\n

She described the performances as fun and humorous, while diving into the truth of our collective past, exploring questions such as, how did we get here? Where do we come from? Do we know where we are?<\/p>\n

\u201cThis theatre work is alive with music, physical theatre and dance,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are stories of arrival that cross time and place, where memories, traditions, in and on country are conveyed.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been blessed with Indigenous advice and protocol to ensure that recognition of Wadawurrung land is acknowledged and is appropriate.\u201d<\/p>\n

The work is crafted by guest composer, Ashley Clapp and choreographer\/dancer Vince Crowley. It is directed by Angela Campbell and Jill Orr.<\/p>\n

Where Do I Come From? I Ask Myself! is on at the Federation University \u2013 Courthouse Theatre (Building F), SMB Campus, 107 Lydiard Street South on Saturday, 29 May with shows at 1pm to 2pm, and 3pm to 4pm<\/p>\n
