SNAP happy young people will have their talents celebrated in a Youth Photography Competition as part of this month\u2019s Youth Week.<\/p>\n
The competition, which opens to entries from 11 June, is being delivered with a $2000 State Government Youth Week grant and includes an online exhibition and photography workshop.<\/p>\n
Mayor Cr Helena Kirby said the event will be a celebration of young people in the region.<\/p>\n
\u201cGolden Plains is home to many talented, artistic young people and council is excited to see their creative work on display during Youth Week,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cLast year, council\u2019s Social Isolation Photography Competition inspired young people to put a creative lens on life during the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis year, I encourage all young people get out, enjoy taking photographs and enter their images in council\u2019s Youth Photography Competition.<\/p>\n
\u201cYouth Week is a wonderful opportunity to recognise and celebrate the significant contribution of young people in our communities and Council thanks the Victorian Government for supporting young people in Golden Plains Shire.\u201d<\/p>\n
Professional photographer Ferne Millen will hold a one-hour online workshop as part of the competition from 4.30pm tonight, sharing her tips and tricks to help participants build on their camera skills.<\/p>\n
Registrations for the class can be made by contacting youth@gplains.vic.gov.au or 0422 101 109.<\/p>\n
The Youth Photography Competition will be split into two age categories, 12 to 18 years old and 19 to 25 years old, and all entries will be exhibited online during Youth Week from 26 June to 2 July.<\/p>\n
Prizes are on offer with first, second and third place winners to receive vouchers to Cavalier Art Supplies in Geelong.<\/p>\n
Competition entries must be photos taken in Golden Plains Shire, with entries closing Friday, 25 June. Winners will be announced on 2 July.<\/p>\n
