{"id":76574,"date":"2021-07-01T04:58:47","date_gmt":"2021-06-30T18:58:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=76574"},"modified":"2021-07-01T10:08:25","modified_gmt":"2021-07-01T00:08:25","slug":"northern-streetscapes-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/news\/northern-streetscapes-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Ideas sought for northern towns\u2019 streets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE character-rich central streets of the Glenelg Highway\u2019s Smythesdale, Scarsdale and Linton are set to be beautified for the enjoyment of residents and tourists.<\/p>\n<p>Golden Plains Shire is seeking feedback from the towns\u2019 locals on how that should be done.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_76579\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-76579\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-76579\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2021\/06\/Linton-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-76579\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Linton<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A Northern Streetscapes Project face-to-face consultation opportunity was postponed and will now run this weekend, Saturday, 3 July, encouraging the community to offer ideas.<\/p>\n<p>A Shire spokesperson said drop-in engagement sessions will be at Scarsdale General Store from 9am to 10am, Smythesdale\u2019s The Well from 10.30am to 11.30am, and Linton Larder from 12pm to 1pm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe in-person consultation sessions will add to the community contributions made via the Northern Streetscapes Project survey, which saw 51 community members have their say on the current streetscapes and provide ideas for the streetscape upgrade works,\u201d the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_76580\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-76580\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-76580\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2021\/06\/Scarsdale-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-76580\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Scarsdale<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe works will focus on minor streetscape upgrade works and placemaking improvements that could include improving accessibility and connectivity, review of pavement treatments, modification of parking arrangements, vegetation succession planning, and improving road and pedestrian safety.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More accessible crossings, trees and vegetation, street furniture, bike racks and covers for public bins could be added.<\/p>\n<p>The project is worth $650,000 and has been funded by Berrybank Wind Farm.
