THE Shire is calling on young people to offer their ideas about the development of the Golden Plains Youth Hub.<\/p>\n
Under the banner of the Golden Plains Youth Hub Community Reference Group, participates will give the facility\u2019s future users a voice while it gets built, seeking to act in their interests to ensure the space is accessible, inclusive, and welcoming to diverse youths between 12 and 25 years old.<\/p>\n
The group will also make sure the Hub offers services and programs that are social, engaging and helpful for young people striving to live a positive, healthy and prosperous lifestyle.<\/p>\n
Stakeholders from the local area will also be part of the group, including representatives from Bannockburn P-12 College, YMCA Bannockburn, Victoria Police, Bannockburn District Grants Inc and the Shire.<\/p>\n
Golden Plains Shire mayor Cr Helena Kirby asked young people to be part of the reference group.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a great opportunity for youth across the Shire to share their passion and ensure the voices and interests of young people are central in the activation of the Shire\u2019s first Youth Hub,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Golden Plains Youth Hub is an exciting project that will provide a safe and inclusive space for young people and it\u2019s important that they are represented in the decision-making process.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe look forward to seeing the ideas of young people, and the entire Youth Hub Community Reference Group, come to life with the new space.\u201d<\/p>\n
Three-monthly group meetings will be held in person on Wednesdays, with online participation options for those that need them.<\/p>\n
The Golden Plains Youth Hub will be located across the road from the College. It\u2019s set to cost $562,000, with $271,032 coming from the State Government, a Federal contribution of $100,000, a Bannockburn and District grant worth $100,000, and $90,720 of in kind support from the Shire.<\/p>\n
